CITY Screen, York, will present a special preview of J A Bayona's children's fantasy A Monster Calls on Tuesday at 6.30pm.

To mark this screening, the Picturehouse cinema has a collector’s edition of Patrick Ness's source novel to be won by a reader of The Press. The book features exclusive material and interviews with two of the film's stars, Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver.

J A Bayona – the J A stands for Juan Antonio – made the 2012 English-language Spanish disaster movie The Impossible. Now he directs Ness's story of 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempting to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss and faith.

Liam Neeson will star in "performance-capture and voiceover" as the nocturnally visiting monster of the title and Sigourney Weaver as the maternal grandmother.
