LOCK up your sons and get out your finest shell suits, sweetie. Welcome to the City Screen party for Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie as the Coney Street cinema in York toasts Edina and Patsy's big-screen debut with brunch and a glass of Bolly.

"Join us over the opening weekend on Saturday and Sunday for the perfect hangover cure," says marketing manager Dave Taylor. "On Saturday at 1.30pm, you can buy a ticket for the film together with a glass of champagne.

"Or, better still, on Saturday or Sunday at 11am, you can join us for brunch, which includes admission to the film, a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel and a glass of champagne. Over 18s only, for the alcohol, obviously, darling."

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie (15) opens on Friday, 24 years after Jennifer Saunders' Edina and Joanna Lumley's Patsy first tottered on to the nation's television screens.

In their debut film, in the face of a media firestorm after an attempt to schmooze Kate Moss goes spectacularly awry, PR agent Edina and magazine editor Patsy escape to their spiritual home: the French Riviera. The result is, apparently, a fun-in-the-sun caper where even Botox won’t stop you smiling.

Tickets are on sale on 0871 902 5726 or at picturehouses.co.uk/york
