CITY Screen's Truffaut/Hitchcock season of Vintage Sundays movies continues in York this weekend with Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (PG).

In Hitchcock's 1954 American mystery thriller, James Stewart plays a photojournalist laid up with a broken leg. Between visits from his nurse (Thelma Ritter) and his fashion model girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly), he peers through the rear window of his apartment at the goings-on in the other apartments around his courtyard. Then, something shocking happens. Has he witnessed a murder... or not?

The 1pm screening will be preceded by an introduction by Dr Steve Rawle from York St John University. "We felt we couldn't miss the chance to invite Dr Rawle back to the cinema to do an introduction. Steve is the author of a forthcoming book Partners In Suspense: Critical Essays on Bernard Herrmann and Alfred Hitchcock and was one of the main organisers of a York St John University international conference on the pair, during which four Hitchcock films featuring Herrmann's musical scores were presented at City Screen."
