LUC Jacquet, the Oscar-winning director of March Of The Penguins, returns to Antarctica for his latest documentary, Ice And The Sky (La Glace et le Ciel), at City Screen, York, on February 2.

Instead of focusing on cute wildlife, Jacquet's film looks at the accomplishments of French polar explorer and glaciologist Claude Lorius, who used dating of ice cores extracted in Antarctica to prove that climate change can be attributed to humans.

Dave Taylor, City Screen's marketing manager, says: "Claude Lorius first visited the Antarctic 60 years ago and has devoted his career to the science. It’s not a surprise that Jacquet’s feature has something of an urgent, call-to-arms edge to it."

Tickets for next Tuesday's 6.30pm screening of Ice And The Sky (U) can be booked at picturehouses.com/cinema/York_Picturehouse/film/ice-and-the-sky or on 0871 902 5726.
