CITY Screen, York, is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Monty Python And The Holy Grail with the extra silliness of a sing-along 9pm screening on October 14.

A specially-filmed introduction from Python veterans Terry Jones, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Eric Idle and John Cleese will precede the 1975 Arthurian spoof tale, wherein the legend of King Arthur is torn asunder.

The Knights of the Round Table set off on foot in search of the Holy Grail, to the accompaniment of their lackeys making clippety-clop sounds with coconut shells. Who can forget what lies in wait: the dreaded, tree-shaped Knights Who Say "Ni!" and the feistiest of enemies, Black Knight, shorn of his arms and legs but who gamely battles on, threatening to bite off his opponent's legs.

"Come dressed as your favourite character," says City Screen marketing manager Dave Taylor. "Shrubbery optional."

Tickets can be booked at the Coney Street cinema's box office or on 0871 902 5726 or online at picturehouses.co.uk
