A FORMER York student will be rubbing shoulders with Hollywood's A-list at next month' star-studded Oscars.

York St John University alumnus Chris Hees has been nominated for an Academy Award in the best animated short film category, and will be in the audience with the likes of George Clooney, Steve Carrell and Eddie Redmayne.

The Film and TV graduate, who studied at the University between 2005 and 2008, received the nomination for The Bigger Picture, a short film which follows two brothers as they care for an elderly parent.

He said: "Studying at York St John gave me the grounding in film and television I needed to produce a feature film straight after graduating.

"This feature film, Innocent Crimes, along with the video production company I set up in my home city of Hull are two huge reasons for me getting into the National Film and Television School, the place where I produced the nominated short."

Chris, 27, is now based in London and works in film production and development.
