Easingwold Art Exhibition, Galtres Centre, until October 21

AN EXHIBITION has just suffered an invasion, but no one seems to mind too much.

In its eighth year, Easingwold Art Exhibition is being invaded by students from Boroughbridge High, Easingwold and Huntington Schools, together with Northallerton College, who were asked to submit a piece of work for display.

The submitted pieces will be adjudicated by Lady Deidre Curteis, of Markenfield Hall, and an award ceremony will take place tomorrow. Local tutor Mike Dobson is leading a workshop for the students tomorrow morning. All are welcome to visit and view the students’ work.

Among the main work on show in the exhibition will be woodcuts by Victoria Sayers; Bridget Tavener-Denton’s miniatures and paintings; and coiled bowls from Ann Johnson, who will be exhibiting for the first time in two years.

Vibrant watercolours come courtesy of Angela McCall, renowned for her flower portraits, whose recent work explores paper collage using text and various mediums. Silver jewellery by Shona Leslie will complete the show.

The exhibition is being held at the Galtres Centre, Market Place Easingwold, from today until Sunday, 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
