AMATEUR historians and family tree specialists are being invited to visit North Yorkshire County Council’s major family history fair at the Harrogate Pavilions on Saturday.

The County Record Office, which will be hosting the event, said it would offer the opportunity to learn about up-to-date developments in research and the art of making family archives from a wide range of experts - for an admission price of £1.

There will be more than 30 society and trade stands and the show will feature family tree experts Find My Past, plus screenings of rare film footage from the Yorkshire Film Archive.

A programme of six one hour talks priced at £3 each is also planned throughout the day, starting at 10.15am.

Among the guest speakers at the exhibition will be expert Dr Nick Barratt.
