Exhibition at University of York shows archaeologists at work

THE department of archaeology at the University of York is to host a European photographic exhibition depicting the day-to-day work of archaeologists from next week.
The public exhibition Working in Archaeology, which runs from Monday until March 6 at King’s Manor, features photographs by Belgian photographer Pierre Buch and reflects the different and varied activities of modern archaeological practice.
The exhibition opened at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris in November and will be shown across Europe throughout the year. Professor Julian Richards, director of the Archaeology Data Service, said: “Working in Archaeology suggests answers to questions such as: What is an archaeologist? What do they do? The exhibition explores the diversity of the periods studied, the objects discovered, the tools used, the techniques involved and the many different ways of working and relating stories about the past to the public.”
The free exhibition is open to the public from 9.30am to 5.30pm on weekdays.

I would bet money that the York Tourist Office hasn't got this on its " whats on list" either.The last time I checked if they knew about an exhibition their first action was to go to Google!
