STORIES were told at a North Yorkshire stately home this weekend, as part of a portrait exhibition.
Beningbrough Hall and Gardens hosted the Portraits Untold event on Saturday, in partnership with Arts Council England and The Big Draw, and disabled artist Tanya Raabe-Webber took part in a live portrait sitting on Saturday with performer David Hoyle.
The audience were encouraged to draw their own portraits of Hoyle during the event, which also included a series of discussions about the lives of both Tanya and David, and their thoughts on diversity.
Tanya Rabbe-Webber said: “As a disabled artist, the notion of my own diversity drives my interest in people and my belief that everyone has the potential to be creative if given the opportunity.”
A series of preliminary events had already taken place, including private workshops with the York LGBT forum, and the sitting was also broadcast live online during Saturday’s event.
Audiences at the hall and watching online were also encouraged to send their digital and digitized drawings through to the artist on the day through social media.
