BAR Lane Artists' Studios Open Doors event takes place in Bar Lane, York, on Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am to 5pm.
"The folk at Bar Lane are usually holed up in their garrets beavering away, but we're coming together to show our work, promote the studios and generally let people know that art goes on in Bar Lane," says artist Patricia Issitt.
“York is a fascinating city. Beneath the surface skin of the tourist trade and the babble of night-time party goers beats a creative heart. York artists must work hard and dig deep to push their creativity and many of the most exciting creative ventures in our city are born from arts communities coming together to make things happen.”
This weekend offers the chance to meet the artist community tucked away behind the Bar Walls at Micklegate, where artists and makers who inhabit the warren of studios at Number 1 Bar Lane will come together for the Open Doors event.
Painting, printmaking, sculpture, textiles and mixed media work will be on display on Saturday and Sunday. Individual artist studios will be open and artists will be available to discuss their work.
