FILM and art are coming together at Pocklington Arts Centre in celebration of the opening of The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

John Madden's sequel to 2012's £20 million-grossing British box office hit is booked in for 16 screenings from tomorrow until March 12.

To coincide with that run, Adrienne French has produced a range of greeting-card images, inspired by her trip to India, as part of her exhibition in the studio.

"India is the inspiration of the moment, not only with the Marigold sequel but also with the major new Channel 4 drama series Indian Summers starring Julie Walters," says James Duffy, the arts centre's assistant manager.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is the expansionist dream of Sonny (Dev Patel), a dream that is making more claims on his time than he has available, considering his imminent marriage to the love of his life, Sunaina (Tena Desae).

Sonny has his eye on a promising property now that his first venture, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel for the Elderly and Beautiful, has only a single remaining vacancy, posing a rooming predicament for fresh arrivals Guy (Richard Gere) and Lavinia (Tamsin Greig).

Film tickets are on sale on 01759 301547 or at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk. Admission to the exhibition is free and Adrienne's postcards will be on sale.
