HARROGATE paper cut artist Anita Bowerman has released a Valentine limited-edition print to raise funds for a charity close to her heart.

Anita created Lovey Dovey, an image of two doves, for the St Gemma’s Secret Auction last year, designing it and then cutting it out from one piece of paper with the aid of a tiny scalpel.

The original paper cut was auctioned alongside work by other artists and celebrities in aid of St Gemma’s Hospice, Moortown, Leeds. Anita has since made the design available as an A4 limited-edition Giclee print for £50 and she will be donating ten per cent of the sale price of each print to St Gemma’s.

“The print can be customised free of charge with names, a message and perhaps the date, ideal for Valentine’s Day, weddings and anniversaries,” she says.

“I love the shape and colour of these doves, signifying peace, joy and tranquility: perfect for any occasion.”

Anita, who was born in Leeds, works from her Dove Tree Art Studio in Back Granville Road, Harrogate, a converted 19th century coach house that she has refurbished in the French Atelier style, where she displays her work and teaches at workshops. It can be found behind Cardamom Black Restaurant, near Harrogate Theatre, and is open on Thursdays and Fridays, 10am to 3.30pm, and on Saturdays, noon to 5pm.

Meanwhile, Anita is artist in residence at the Hazlewood Castle hotel, a former 12th century castle near Tadcaster, where her work is on display in various rooms. She has created paintings of the castle and grounds and is working on new artwork for a show in the Great Hall on April 21 that she will attend at a ticketed drinks and canapes reception from 12.30pm to 8pm.
