HARROGATE artist Anita Bowerman is taking up an invitation to exhibit her Tour de France mementos at a special one-day only exhibition in Ilkley.

Anita is bringing her paper cuts for Le Grand Depart from Yorkshire to the Victorian Arcade on Saturday from 10am to 5pm, when she also will display some of her other work.

"I was asked to display my artwork, in particular my Le Tour projects, by the tenants of the arcade to coincide with the Ilkley Literature Festival," says Anita. "It's the perfect venue to display my work, so light and airy. "

Ilkley town crier Isabel Hogan will help to draw crowds to the arcade, ringing her bell and announcing Anita's arrival from 1pm on the day. Visitors will see the near one-metre Tour map cut from a single piece of paper showing the Stage 1 route. The map, complete with tiny cyclists in their jackets, took Anita five months to create and 200 hours to cut out by hand, and she also did a smaller wheel design, entitled The World's Greatest Cycle Race.

Working from her studio and gallery at he Dove Tree Art Studio, on Back Granville Road, near Harrogate Theatre, Anita also has launched her new range of limited-edition stainless steel works of the wheel design and the Angel of The North with bronze leaf, both of which will be on show on Saturday.
