POCKLINGTON Arts Centre introduces the art of Miriam Laville in its September exhibition.

Miriam works from her studio in Leeds, where she specialises in mixed-media 2D artwork and printmaking, taking her inspiration from natural forms and their complexities of line, texture, shape and colour.

She exhibits regularly across the region and down south, in galleries and business premises, and organised the first Roundhay Open Studio event with fellow artist Debbie Samuel in April.

Miriam, who has a degree in graphic art and design from Leeds Metropolitan University, facilitates art workshops from her studio and around the Leeds and Yorkshire area. She also does contract work for Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Playhouse, First Floor and primary schools in Leeds and beyond and is a member of the Leeds Fine Artists.

During her Pocklington debut show, she will be holding collagraph workshops on September 6 and 13 and a decoupage workshop on September 27, each from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

All materials will be provided and more details, including the workshop fees, are available from Pock Arts Centre visual arts officer Helen Steele on 01759 301547.

The collagraph printing process brings together the diversity of textured collage and mark making, while the decoupage session will involve "upcycling" old objects, ranging from containers and mirrors to frames and wooden trays, covering them with ornamental papers to reinvent them.

Miriam Laville's exhibition will run from Tuesday to October 3, preceded by a preview on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. Admission is free.
