YORKSHIRE actor Steve Huison is displaying another artistic talent at the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough.

During his run in three roles in the Yorkshire detective thriller The Last Train To Scarborough in June, he found time in the day to draw a series of charcoal drawings of Chris Monks’s cast at work, pictured right, in the rehearsal rooms for Cox & Box – Mrs Bouncer’s Legacy.

Actors Charlotte Harwood, Lara Stubbs and Paul Ryan are depicted in seven sketches that can be seen in the SJT’s upper foyer throughout the play’s run until August 30.

“I was fortunate enough to sit in on rehearsals for Cox & Box in the company’s first week,” says Steve, an actor best known for roles in The Full Monty and Coronation Street. “This mainly consisted of the read-through followed by intensive singing rehearsals. These drawings have hopefully captured some of the essence of the vitality and raw energy of the performers coming to grips with a new piece of work.”

The work in question takes Sir Arthur Sullivan’s original one-act comic opera, Cox & Box, and reinvents it with a new sequel written by SJT artistic director Chris Monks and composer Richard Atkinson in a musical story of deception, international relations and chickens.
