YORK artist, tutor and gallery owner Andres Jaroslavsky is to run a new life-drawing group at Heworth Community Centre, Applecroft Road, Heworth, every Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm, starting on June 24.

“Relaxed and fun, the classes cost £10 each week and are suitable for all abilities, including beginners,” says Andres, who often can be seen at work at his Corner Gallery in Scarcroft Road. “All the materials are included and teas and coffees are free too. The classes are open, so you don’t need to book. You can just drop in at Heworth and take a class.

“The sessions are structured in two parts, both utilising a life-drawing model. During the first half, there are three short exercises with tuition and samples. After the tea break, there’s a long pose by the model for everyone to apply whatever they learnt during the first half.”

Andres, a figurative painter and piano teacher originally from Argentina, will complete his MA in creative practice at Leeds College of Art in August. His Masters degree project comprises a body of paintings that will form part of his next exhibition at the Munro House Gallery in Leeds in October.
