A NEW exhibition of railway posters urging people to get out and about “whatever the weather” has opened at the National Railway Museum in York.
Using more than 40 posters from the national collection, dating from the 1920s up to 1999, the Whatever The Weather exhibition shows how railway companies have given passengers an inventive variety of reasons to leave the house in the colder months.
It also includes posters used to explain faults and delays caused by the winter weather.
Ellen Tait, of the National Railway Museum, said: “The unpredictable nature of weather affects us all and even the oldest posters are as relevant today as they were nearly a century ago.”
The exhibition runs until March 3.
Admission is free.
