MONTY Python humorist, writer and globetrotting television presenter Michael Palin will be on stage at the Grand Opera House, York, on July 28 in the first highlight to be confirmed for the 2018 Great Yorkshire Fringe.

South Yorkshireman Palin will be In Conversation with Robert Ross at the Cumberland Street theatre that afternoon, when he will discuss his life and work, as well as his comic influences and heroes at 2pm.

The Great Yorkshire Fringe will return to York city centre for a fourth year this summer, running from July 19 to July 29 in a more concentrated event than the 17-day festival in 2017.

Tickets for Michael Palin go on pre-sale at 10am today via greatyorkshirefringe.com and the Grand Opera House ticket sales opens on Monday at 10am on 0844 871 3024, at atgtickets.com/york or in person from the box office.

Palin last appeared at the York theatre on September 28 2014 in his debut one-man stage show, Travelling To Work, wherein he looked back at 25 years of exploring the world and nearly 50 years in radio, television, books and films.
