NORWEGIAN comedian Daniel Simonsen returns to the Burning Duck Comedy Club in York on Sunday evening with two work-in-progress shows, Net and No Net.

"Net is a new collection of Daniel's recent scripted work; No Net is Daniel performing live, with no script," says Burning Duck promoter Al Greaves. "Originally from Bergen in Norway, Daniel is now residing in New York City, so this is another very rare chance to see him in York.

"He was so funny last time he was in York that we've invited him
back during this brief return to the UK to try out more work-in-progress material."

Simonsen, the Best Newcomer winner in the 2012 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, has played Erik, Bob's son, in Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's House Of Fools on BBC2 and appeared on Russell Howard’s Good News on BBC3.

Note Sunday's earlier-than-usual starting time of 7.15pm at The Basement, City Screen. Tickets cost £8 at picturehouses.com/cinema/York_Picturehouse or £10 on the door from 6.45pm.

Greaves has plenty more shows lined up in York at the Great Yorkshire Fringe, the Black Swan Inn, The Basement at City Screen and Burning Duck's new additional venue of The Crescent Community Venue.

"This includes Paul Foot's new tour show on September 16 at The Crescent and we've just confirmed a phenomenal triple bill of Josie Long, Grace Petrie and Jonny & The Baptists! entitled Lefty Scum on November 6, also at The Crescent," says Al.

"Expect music, comedy and Revolutionary Socialism during a riotous
evening with three of the UK's most joyfully rabble-rousing acts."

Rob Auton: hair appointment in York

Early booking is essential for this exclusive show, part of a limited ten-date UK tour presented jointly with York punk, queer and feminist punk
promoters Pewter Productions.

"I'm very excited about our upcoming bills," adds Al. "We're
genuinely bringing a wonderfully diverse line-up of the best up and
coming and established international acts to York and adding new
names all the time."

Further acts set for September onwards include "Comedians of Art"
John Hastings and Ben Target on September 3; Phil Wang, October 7; Mae Martin, October 18, and  Ed Gamble, February 18, all in The Basement.

Looking further ahead, Greaves will bring York comedian Rob Auton back home on March 9 next year to present his new show, The Hair Show, in The Crescent, a venue picked for its larger capacity.

"I'm really looking forward to all our acts and very excited about about the prospect of presenting our regular booking, Rob Auton, to a wider audience in York next year," says Al.

"Rob's new show is 'suitable for people who have, or have had hair and hairs', so, as well as being hilarious, hopefully it's something most of us will be able to relate to."

Tickets for all Burning Duck shows are available at
burningduckcomedy.com or from the venue box offices.
