KIRI Pritchard-McLean performs her "inadvisably ambitious" debut show Hysterical Woman at York's Burning Duck Comedy Club this weekend.

On Sunday night, Pritchard-McLean tackles genetics, gender and being a comedian who happens to be a woman. "I also stick my white, middle-class nose into racial inequality," she says. "I know, it has nothing to do with her, but I won't be told."

Burning Duck promoter Al Greaves invites you to "join Kiri for an hour of whip-smart stand-up that's as funny as it is clever – or turn up to see if she commits an accidental hate crime".

Pritchard-McLean has supported Justin Moorhouse on his tours and is the writer-director, as well as performer, for another of Greaves's favourite acts at Burning Duck, Gein's Family Giftshop. Admission to Sunday's 8pm gig is restricted to 18 plus; tickets cost £8 at burningduckcomedy.com or £10 on the door from 7.30pm.

Brennan Reece: Everglow at Burning Duck Comedy Club

Another debut is being brought to York by Greaves on March 14, namely Brennan Reece: Everglow at the Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, at 7.30pm.

"Hello! I'm the English Comedian of the Year and this is my debut show," says Brennan. "In Australia it sold out. I know that sounds like bragging, but I don't know another way to explain that people liked it. I've also appeared on BBC, ITV, E4 and supported Joe Lycett on tour. Still bragging. I just really like doing comedy and if you come and see me, I reckon you'll like it too."

Reece specialises in "making up stuff about family members". Chris Washington will be his support act; tickets cost £6.60, students £4.95 at wegottickets.com/event/387072.
