COMEDY superstar John Bishop has picked Pocklington Arts Centre as the perfect place to warm up his brand new show, Winging It, in preparation for his British arena tour in the autumn.

The 50-year-old Liverpudlian will be in Pock for two nights, April 12 and April 13, and tickets for his brace of 8pm performances go on sale on Friday at 10am at the box office, on 01759 301547, at pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk and via Ticketmaster.

Winging It will be Bishop's first tour in three years and is gearing up to be his "biggest and best yet". "I'm very much looking forward to this new adventure and can’t wait to be back on the road again," he says.

Bishop has achieved success in his own comedy, entertainment and documentary shows, such as John Bishop’s Australia, John Bishop’s Britain, The John Bishop Show and The John Bishop Christmas Show, all on BBC1; John Bishop’s Only Joking on Sky1 and John Bishop’s Gorilla Adventure on ITV1.

His latest series, John Bishop: In Conversation With… on the W channel, has seen him chatting one to one with some of Britain's biggest names and he has been a regular guest on Sky1's sports panel show A League Of Their Own, as well as a host of the Royal Variety Performance.

In July 2009, Bishop warmed up for that summer's Edinburgh Fringe with a preview of his Elvis Has Left The Building show to an audience of 70 at the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club, City Screen, York. So rapid was his rise that he appeared at the Grand Opera House, York, no fewer than three times on his Sunshine Tour: March 24 and May 3 2010 and January 25 2011.
