DAVID Trent returns to York tomorrow night with his computer, projector and accessories in crates and his screen by his side to play the Burning Duck Comedy Club.

This multi-media comic will project moving and still images at the Black Swan Inn, in Peasholme Green, as he headlines an 8pm bill featuring Tom Taylor and support acts Liberty Hodes and Lauren Stone.

“We're very excited to welcome David," says promoter Al Greaves. “We love his innovative use of technology and powerpoint within his comedy, making him one of the best acts in the country.”

Award-winning Harrogate comedian Tom Taylor takes a night off from running his own Sitting Room Comedy Club to perform his smart but silly brand of musical comedy, replete with a stock of quirky musical one-liners.

In 2013, Taylor reached the final of the So You Think You’re Funny? competition; in 2014, he was a Hobgoblin Comedy Award finalist and last year he won the inaugural Great Yorkshire Fringe New Comedian of the Year competition in York.

Taylor latterly has performed on Radio 2 and Radio 4 as part of the BBC Radio New Comedy Award; supported Simon Munnery on tour and performed a sell-out run of his one-man murder mystery, The Game’s A Foot, Try The Fish, at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Tomorrow's Trent and Taylor show follows Burning Duck's second birthday show last month when the sketch group Gein's Family Giftshop topped the bill.

Looking ahead, Al says: "We're now booking in more shows at both the Black Swan and City Screen Basement from our favourite musical, character, sketch, spoken word and stand-up comedy performers, including the best in new up-and-coming performers, alongside more established national and international acts, many of whom you might have seen on radio or TV or winning awards at the Edinburgh Fringe.

"So we believe that with lots more exciting shows lined up, including at our new venue at the City Screen Basement, the York comedy scene is continuing to change for the better.”

Tickets for tomorrow are on sale at £5 at burningduckcomedy.com or at £7 on the door from 7.45pm; student concessions cost £4.
