RICH Hall, the American comedian, writer, and musician, will play York Theatre Royal tomorrow and Harrogate Theatre next Wednesday at 8pm on his Rich Hall: Live 2016 tour.

The Montana native, noted for his grouchy, deadpan tirades, rapid-fire banter, absurdist irony and musical sequences, has saddled up and hitched his wagon to tour the British Isles from September 5 to December 15.

Hall will be delivering a "mash-up of music, comedy and gratuitous colouration, where the floor will reek of liquor and spent dreams" as he delivers his plain-spoken, growling indignation and acerbic observations.

This transatlantic messenger not only lampoons each country he visits but is equally harsh on his homeland too in his shows. Familiar from his appearances on myriad television shows, he has plenty more strings to his bow, such as writing for The David Letterman Show and writing three books, Magnificent Bastards, I Blame Society and Things Snowball for Abacus Books.

Hall was the inspiration behind Matt Groening’s character Moe Szyslak in The Simpsons. This year, now 62, he returns to BBC Radio 4 with Rich Hall’s (US Election) Breakdown to guide listeners through the chaos of the upcoming US Presidential Election.

A new live DVD and Blu-Ray, recorded at the Vaudeville Theatre in London’s West End last September, is set for release by Universal Pictures in 2016 too.

Hall's Harrogate show is part of the 2016 Harrogate Comedy Festivals. Tickets for York can be booked on 01904 623568 or at yorktheatreroyal.co.uk; Harrogate, 01423 502116 or harrogatetheatre.co.uk
