THE Hyena Lounge Comedy Club has its last ever laugh in York this weekend, presenting its farewell shows in the White Rose Rotunda spiegeltent at the Great Yorkshire Fringe.
Headlining Friday night's bill is Bethany Black, latterly seen starring in BBC1's Doctor Who and Russell T Davies's multi-channel shows Cucumber, Banana and Tofu. Her first solo stand-up show, Beth Becomes Her, was nominated for Best Debut at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2008, eventually losing out to Sarah Millican, and she has since performed alongside Millican Allan Carr, Tim Minchin and Rhys Darby.

Saturday's headline spot goes to Stephen K Amos, a regular face on such TV shows as Mock The Week, Live At The Apollo and Have I Got News For You, as well as starring in his own BBC1 show, The Stephen K Amos Show.
"Stephen is one of the finest comics in the country," says Hyena Lounge promoter Toby Clouston-Jones. "He last played York as part of his most recent UK tour at the Grand Opera House and he’s the perfect end to our run at this year’s Great Yorkshire Fringe."
Both nights feature Dave Hadingham as the opening act. "This year Dave celebrates 20 years as a highly regarded regular on the nationwide comedy circuit, keeping audiences hooked right up to the last punchline as he presents his unique and often warped view of everyday life," says Toby.
Food for thought for compere Andre Vincent
"This gravel-voiced comic combines supremely controlled delivery with inimitable facial contortions as he cracks some of the best handmade gags in the business."
Andre Vincent returns for one last time to compere both gigs. "A firm favourite with the York audiences, Andre comes to us fresh from a run of his Early Edition shows alongside Marcus Brigstocke at London’s Just For Laughs festival," says Toby.

The Hyena Lounge may be exiting stage left from York, but Toby's 20 years of promoting comedy will continue with his Hyena Lounge nights at Harrogate Theatre and Saturday sessions at the Leeds HiFi Club.
