Gordon Southern

Looking forward to this week's shows, Toby says: "Justin Moorhouse is instantly recognisable to comedy fans as Young Kenny in Phoenix Nights, spending the whole of the second series with his face painted as a tiger.

"His exuberant, larger-than-life personality and cheeky northern charm have built a reputation on the live comedy circuit; he's performed his stand-up on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Live At The Apollo, and he's now hosting the Saturday morning football phone-in show on BBC Radio Five Live."

London comedian Gordon Southern's upbeat and energetic delivery, combined with his observational comedy and quick-witted improvisation, has secured his place on comedy bills all over the world.

"Gordon is a regular headlining comedian on the UK and International circuit, spending several months every year performing in Australia. Being regarded as a truly international act, he’s worked in many exotic and challenging places, including Afghanistan, the Falkland Islands, Kosovo and Liverpool," says Toby.

"A talented actor and award-winning writer, Southern has written for some of the most memorable comedy shows of the past 20 years. He's always a hugely popular act with the Hyena Lounge audience and his sheer energy and superb material makes his time on stage fly by."

Jason Cook will be the compere, making a rare change from being a headline act himself. "Best known for creating, writing and starring in his BBC2 sitcom Hebburn, alongside his best mate Chris Ramsey and Vic Reeves, he's also performed his stand-up on Russell Howard’s Good News and at clubs and festivals all over the world," says Toby.

Tickets for the 9.30pm shows cost £14 from greatyorkshirefringe.com, on 01904 500600 or on the door from 9pm.
