GO on and gorge yourself on the smorgasbord of live music, theatre and comedy coming your way in this year's Great Yorkshire Fringe, starting tomorrow.

Last year's appetiser has swelled into a full-course meal with a menu of 300 shows and events for all tastes, ages and wallets.

Tiddler & Other Terrific Tales White Rose Rotunda Saturday July16 - Sunday July 31 (not 18th or 25th), 11am & 12.45pm Tickets: Adult £15; child £10; family £40 (3+)

A must-see for all fans (little and small) of Julia Donaldson & Axel Scheffler, creators of The Gruffalo. Some of their best-loved titles including Tiddler, Monkey Puzzle, The Smartest Giant in Town and A Squash and a Squeeze are all brought to life with live music, puppetry and a whole host of colourful characters from the books. Warning: expect funky moves, toe tapping tunes and lots of giggles.

Pete Firman: Preview The Tea Pot Wednesday July 20, 8pm Tickets: £12 (14+)

Now you see him! TV magician Firman is best known as the star of BBC1's The Magicians and a guest on countless shows including those of Sarah Millican and John Bishop. But with a wave of his wand, he will be appearing in York for one night only as he previews new jokes and tricks for his next show. Expect his own trademark blend of crowd-pleasing comedy and jaw-dropping magic. See whether he lives up to the billing of performing: "The best magic tricks in the universe" (The Independent). If true, this show should be out of this world.

Austentatious – An Improvised Jane Austin Novel White Rose Rotunda Wednesday July 20, 8pm Tickets: £15 (16+)

Improv steps back in time as this talented cast invent a new Jane Austen work live. Performed in period costume with musical accompaniment, this Regency treat conjures a new Austen work, based on a single audience suggestion. Previous ‘lost’ masterpieces have included Sixth Sense & Sensibility, Double 0 Darcy and Mansfield Shark. No two shows are ever the same. Has earned a five-star review in The Times. Grand Old Uke of York White Rose Rotunda Tuesday July 19, £7.30pm Tickets: £8

Yorkshire's most vibrant ukulele collective take on the sounds of Avicii, Stevie Wonder, Queen, ACDC, Olly Murs, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, The Cure, George Ezra and more. Local legends, they have performed at numerous festivals and gigs including Grassington, Goole, Poppleton and Pocklington - now is your chance to see them in York at the Great Yorkshire Fringe.

Steady yourself for a night of glamorous showgirls, top-notch variety acts and seasoned cabaret performers from across the UK. Get in the mood as the spiegeltent fills with glitter, feathers and a few surprises. Candles and vintage sounds create a speakeasy atmosphere a world away from city centre York. Prepare to be dazzled.

Paul Foot: Tis a Pity She's A Piglet White Rose Rotunda Saturday, July 30, 8.18pm Tickets: £10 (18+)

Sublime, original, brilliant, surreal, unique, outlandish, and absurd - just some of the words used to describe the comedy of Paul Foot, returning with a second helping of comic capers for the Fringe after last year's debut. Described as "a comedy whirlwind from the school of Spike Milligan" his new show, which is Edinburgh-bound, tackles the big issues of the day such a terrorism, immigration - oh, and Ant and Dec and The X Factor.

Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School York Present: The Ministry of Silly Sketches The Gillygate Shed Sundays July 17 and 24 from 7pm-10pm Tickets: £8/£7conc (18+)

One for budding artists out there (no previous experience required). Dr Sketchy’s seek to shake up the traditional life-drawing experience. Nobody tells you what or how to draw. "We’re not a serious art class, just a load of Art Monkeys sketching in a relaxed atmosphere" is their mantra. Art supplies will be provided - or you can bring your own.

Showstopper! The Improvised Musical White Rose Rotunda Saturday July 23, 4.30pm & 6.30pm Tickets: £16.50

Don't miss your chance to see these 2016 Olivier Award Winners who create a brand new musical comedy from scratch at each performance from audience suggestions. With nine years as an Edinburgh Fringe must-see phenomenon, a BBC Radio 4 Series and now a critically acclaimed West End run at London's Apollo Theatre, the Showstoppers have delighted audiences across the globe with their ingenious blend of comedy, musical theatre and spontaneity.

Ed Patrick: Junior Doctor The Gillygate Shed Saturday July 30, 5.30pm Tickets: £10

Patrick is a junior doctor and a stand-up who is swapping ward rounds for rounds of applause in comedy clubs across the land. He will be making a house call to Edinburgh next month, but first he will give York audiences a comedy health check revealing stories from the front line of his day job.

Something foody...

If all that Fringe fodder has left you feeling a bit peckish, never fear: your actual appetite will be satiated too at this year's festival, or rather Feastival. The street food offer from last year will be even wider with plenty selections to suit all. Look out for firm favourites such as Shambles Kitchen, but also gourmet sausages from Street Dawg Co and sizzling burgers from The Cattle Shed. At new-for-2016-venue The Gillygate Shed, check out its pizzas, baked in a wood-burning oven, and wash one down with a drink from its cider bar. Cheers!
