FOR the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club's penultimate show at The Duchess and its last ever Bank Holiday Special in York, promoter Toby Clouston-Jones has put together an 8pm bill of Bethany Black, Justin Moorhouse, Sam Gore and Danny Deegan.

Opening the Saturday Night Lounge line-up will be Justin Moorhouse. "He's one of our favourite acts and has probably played the club more times than anyone else," says Toby.

"Justin became famous very early in his career by starring alongside Peter Kay in Phoenix Nights and has subsequently become one of the country’s finest comedians. He has a warm and jovial wit, as shown in his TV appearances on Live At The Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and his regular role as a competitor on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk."

Toby welcomes back Bethany Black to close the show. "Bethany has been a professional stand-up comedian since 2004 and she's appeared in Doctor Who," he says. "Her Beth Becomes Her show was nominated for Best Debut at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2008, eventually losing out to Sarah Millican, and over the course of her career she's performed alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, including Sarah Millican, Alan Carr, Tim Minchin and Rhys Darby.

"In 2015, she was cast as Helen in Russell T Davies's multi-channel shows Cucumber, Banana and Tofy, where she was the first trans actress to play a leading role."

Sam Gore takes the middle slot, replacing his previous Hyena Lounge booking a couple of weeks ago. "After cementing his position as one of the best new voices on the circuit, with no fewer than five New Act of the Year titles, he’s gone on to impress audiences everywhere from weekend clubs to music festivals, biker rallies and theatres," says Toby.

Danny Deegan returns as this weekend's compere. ""He'll be mixing very witty audience banter with comic material, mostly about being a bloke from Bury living in York," says Toby.

Tickets cost £14 on 01904 641413 or at hyenalounge.com or £16 on the door from 7pm.
