THE Sitting Room Comedy Club returns to the Monkbar Hotel, in Monk Bar, York, tomorrow with four more of the country’s leading comedians.

“We've had a great start to 2016 but I think April’s show might be our strongest yet," says promoter Tom Taylor. "It’s a line-up I'm really excited about, four of my favourite acts and four comedians I've worked with very recently.

“They’re all stylistically different but all performing at the top of their games right now. That’s what I love about mixed-bill comedy; the chance to see four different comedians in one night and all for just a tenner.”

Dan Nightingale, winner of the Best MC title in the 2015 UK Comedy Awards, tops the 8pm bill with support from Andrew Watts, James Meehan and compère Jonathan Mayor.

"One of British stand-ups hidden gems, Dan compèred our first gig back at the Monkbar in September and stole the show, so I only thought it right to get him back to headline this year," says Tom. "His comedy is original, playful, intelligent, poignant and exciting; sometimes ridiculous, but always amusing.”

Andrew Watts opens the show. "He has a distinctive style and very original material which have made him one of my favourite acts. His posh-boy humour is intelligent without distancing himself from the audience. He's played numerous Sitting Room gigs for me elsewhere over the years, but this is his first time in York, so I’m delighted to introduce him to the city.”

James Meehan takes this month’s middle spot with his unconventional, refreshingly nonchalant, offbeat presence; Chortle Awards Best Compère nominee Jonathan Mayor has supported Sarah Millican on tour and is her first-choice TV warm-up act.

Tickets are available from the Monkbar Hotel reception or at sittingroomcomedy.com.
