HYENA Lounge Comedy Club promoter Toby Clouston-Jones was cutting it fine for his Saturday Night Lounge line-up in York, only confirming the appearance of Scarborough comedian Paul Tonkinson on Wednesday morning.

Tonkinson will open the 8pm show at The Duchess, in Stonebow, fresh from supporting Micheal McIntyre all of last year on his theatre and arena tours. "On TV, he’s performed on BBC One’s Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store and The World Stands-Up, as well as being a contestant on Channel 4`s Celebrity Come Dine With Me, proving he’s not just a dazzling comedian, but a whizz in the kitchen, scooping first place to win the cash prize for charity," says Toby.

To mark St Patrick's Day this week, he has booked two Irishmen, headliner Rory O'Hanlon and Johnny Candon, to complement Yorkshireman Tonkinson and compere Phil Chapman, a Liverpudlian who lived in Texas for ten years.

"Rory O'Hanlon is making a welcome return to the Hyena Lounge," says Toby. "This Dublin-born comic is quickly rising up the UK comedy ranks and now regularly headlines comedy clubs all across the world, in particular New York, where he's really making a name for himself."

Johnny Candon will take this weekend’s middle slot. "He's one of Ireland’s most sought-after comedians, has toured with John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman and supported Ricky Gervais on his Animals tour," says Toby. "Phil Chapman will be a warm and witty host with possibly the strangest accent on the UK comedy circuit."

Tickets cost £14 on 01904 641413 or at hyenalounge.com or £16 on the door from 7pm.
