IF you want to see Alfie Moore live, here are your options.

Either drive to Scunthorpe and park on a double yellow line or head to the Burning Duck Comedy Club in York on March 21.

Moore is a former police sergeant turned stand-up comedian and star of BBC Radio 4 comedy It's A Fair Cop, who "tasers his way through a set of anecdotes drawn from his 18 years on the beat".

"Alfie has an observational comedic style that lends itself to witty, and sometimes gritty, anecdotes based on everyday modern policing," says Burning Duck promoter Al Greaves.

"He'll be performing a work-in-progress show for us, as will support act Danny Deegan, a comedian, writer and actor who has become a regular at most of the major comedy clubs in the UK since he began performing in 2003. Danny’s tales of mischief and the characters he creates have kept audiences all over the country enthralled as he weaves in and out of the people he's met while travelling. His talent and likeability, coupled with his confidence, make him one of the most popular acts in the north."

Looking forward to the 8pm gig at The Black Swan, in Peasholme Green, Al adds: "This is a unique opportunity to see both these acts performing extended sets and trying out new material for their forthcoming festival shows for only £3.”

Further ahead, The Burning Buring will welcome award-winning comedian, actress, songwriter and improviser Pippa Evans on April 12. Pippa has performed regularly on BBC Radio 4's The Now Show, featured on BBC3’s sketch comedy show Live At The Electric and is a core member of The Showstoppers, who improvise new musicals based on audience suggestions.

She will be accompanied by psycho-intense American singer-songwriter Loretta Maine with her bitter songs of love, loss and revenge. "This pill-popping, booze-abusing, bunny-boiling car crash of a rock star has her own show and her own band, Dog Vagina," says Al. "Apparently she makes Courtney Love look well balanced."

In the words of the Guardian, Loretta is "like Dolly Parton seen through the lens of Mike Leigh". If intrigued, you can buy tickets at burningduckcomedy.com or in person at Bison Coffee House, in Heslington Road, or The Inkwell, in Gillygate, or on the door from 7.45pm.
