IMPRESSIONIST and political satirist Rory Bremner and Friends will play a flood relief fundraising show at the Grand Opera House, York, on May 16 as part of his Come Hell And High Water tour.

Bremner will stop off in York as he continues his series of special charity shows to raise money for those affected by flooding over the festive season across the north of England. Proceeds from the 8pm show will go to the York Disaster Fund, managed by the Two Ridings Community Foundation, to help victims of the Boxing Day floods.

Bremner will host and star in a two-hour comedic extravaganza, where the comedians will donate their services for free. So far confirmed to join Rory are veteran Leeds comedian, perennial BBC Radio 4 panel show participant and writer Barry Cryer, Jess Robinson, Rob Rouse and Katie Mulgrew, with more names to be added in the coming weeks.

Already Bremner has played sold-out concerts in Penrith, Kendal, Keswick and Lancaster on a tour organised by his promoters, Lakin McCarthy Entertainment.

"It was heart breaking to see the devastation caused by the floods in Yorkshire, Cumbria and Lancashire over the Christmas and New Year period," he said at the outset of the tour. "To help out, I’m bringing a top line-up of comics for some special fund-raisers. Come along for a great evening of comedy and variety and support those hardest hit."

Tickets for the York concert are on sale at £22.50 on 0844 871 3024 or atgtickets.com/york
