LONDONER Hal Cruttenden rants about the real evils of the modern world – oversharing on social media and the 5:2 diet – in his tour show Straight Outta Cruttenden.

The former University of York politics student also offers his insights on being an orphan on Facebook, taking his wife to Saudi Arabia and how he fell out with George Osborne at school, when George's name was Gideon, and personally blames him every time he puts up the price of petrol.

After 23 dates in 2015, following a month-long run at last summer's Edinburgh Fringe, Cruttenden is now playing a further 27 British dates between this month and June 5.

Straight Outta Cruttenden is Cruttenden's first new show since Tough Luvvie, which began life in 2012 and climaxed with a DVD and a tour that ended last February after playing to 40,000 people. He will perform his latest show at the Melbourne Comedy Festival in March.

Cruttenden, who trained as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama, has two shows in development, one with Tiger Aspect and a second with ITV, and he has recorded a pilot with Sue Perkins, Insert Name Here. He has had his own BBC Radio 4 sitcom, Hal, and his third Radio 4 series is in the pipeline.

Cruttenden was the guest comic in the final of The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice, pressed the red button on The Lottery Show on BBC1 and took part in Pointless Celebrities. Internationally, he has played shows in India, Bermuda, Germany, Norway, Dubai, Jakarta, Bali, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and The Falklands.

As well as York on February 2, Cruttenden heads to Hull Truck Theatre on February 3 and The Wardrobe, Leeds, on February 5. Tickets for York are on sale on 01904 641413, online at hyenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.
