JOHN Kearns will be next Tuesday's headline act at The Not So Late Show, the monthly Leeds alternative comedy chat show now on the move to a new home at The Wardrobe.

Billed as "the only one of its kind in the north", the night is partly a spoof of American talk shows, partly a celebration of different styles of live comedy, and definitely "not your average stand-up show".

At each month's gig, hosts Ross Brierley and Joshua Sadler present a hatful of guests, sketches, short films, music and nonsense. Expect celebrity guests, talking babies and local heroes, along with hand-picked acts from the cream of the alternative comedy circuit.

After a year of hosting The Not So Late Show at Wharf Chambers, Brierley and Sadler have found a new location at The Wardrobe, already home to touring comedy from rising stars Joe Lycett, Bridget Christie and James Acaster.

Next Tuesday's headliner, John Kearns, specialises in "legalised insanity" and is a highly original writer with an eye for the ludicrous. He is the only comedian to have won Best Newcomer at the Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards, in 2013, and followed it up with the Best Show award the next year, and he was nominated for a Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2014 and 2015.

Kearns had a starring role in Top Coppers on BBC3 in 2015, has written and performed a series of vignettes on BBC Radio 4 and appeared on Comedy Central’s Drunk History.

Tickets for the 7.45pm show cost £5 in advance from rossandjosh.co.uk or £7 on the door. The next two nights will take place on March 15 and April 5.
