LIPPY Londoner Luisa Omielan opens the Saturday Night Lounge bill this weekend at The Duchess in York, lining up alongside headliner Paul Tonkinson, Danny O'Brien and Dan Nightingale.

"The phenomenal Luisa Omielan sold out her solo show at the Leeds City Varieties in her last Yorkshire visit on her UK tour," says Hyena Lounge Comedy Club promoter Toby Clouston-Jones, introducing the star of Fringe hits What Would Beyonce Do?! and Am I Right Ladies?!.

"With millions ofYouTube views of her performing, as well as a self-financed, best-selling live DVD, five-star reviews and nominations at the Edinburgh Fringe and an ever-growing fan base, it’s not going to be long before she's a household name and a familiar face on TV shows across the land."

Scarborough’s Paul Tonkinson is on North Yorkshire terrain once more, fresh from his year-long stint supporting Michael McIntyre on an arena tour that took in three nights at Leeds First Direct Arena last month.

"As well as performing alongside Michael, Paul also writes for him for his TV series and the two have been close friends for over a decade," says Toby. "Having shot to prominence replacing Chris Evans as the presenter of Channel 4’s cult sensation The Big Breakfast, Paul mixes his career as a stand-up comedian with his TV work, winning countless awards for both."

Danny O’Brien takes this weekend’s middle slot, heading over from his native Ireland to play York. "He has over a decade of stand-up under his belt, performing at top comedy clubs and festivals in Ireland, Britain, Europe and the United States," says Toby. "With his chatty, anecdotal style, this raconteur will draw in his audience and bring on the big laughs with ease.

"2013 was his breakthrough year when he scooped the title of Dublin's Funniest Comedian, released his first comedy album on iTunes as part of the Irish Underground Comedy Show and beat 16 of Ireland's best comedians to take the coveted Toilet Duck Award at Tedfest, the infamous Father Ted celebration."

Hyena Lounge favourite Dan Nightingale returns to The Duchess to host the 8pm gig. "That makes it a show featuring four headline acts on the same bill, and this really could be our best show of the whole year," says Toby.

Tickets are on sale at £14 on 01904 641413, at hyenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.
