SCOTSMAN Larry Dean takes top spot at this weekend's Saturday Night Lounge at The Duchess, Stonebow, York.

"Since being crowned Scottish Comedian Of The Year at only 23, this Glaswegian comedian has performed a number of high-profile shows worldwide, including being the support act for Eddie Izzard and Stephen K Amos," says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

"He's appeared on BBC Presents: Best Of The Edinburgh Festival in both 2014 and 2015, along with being nominated for the Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Awards: Best Newcomer 2015. As Kevin Bridges announces a long-term break from stand-up, it’s a fair bet that Larry Dean will be filling his fellow Scot's clown shoes in the not-too-distant future."

Opening the 8pm show will be Geordie Carl Hutchinson, often to be spotted as the tour support to his best mate, Chris Ramsey, including last year at York Barbican. "His TV credits already take in Russell Howard’s Good News and 8 Out Of 10 Cats and it’s surely only a matter of time before he breaks through as a major name in stand-up," says Toby.

Ruth E Cockburn makes her Hyena Lounge Comedy Club debut in the middle slot, bringing her guitar and a bag full of humorous songs, jokes and observations.

Regular Hyena Lounge headline act Dan Nightingale switches to compere duties. Tickets cost £14 on 01904 641413, at hyenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.
