YEEHAA! Irish comedian Jimeoin, is turning cowboy for his 2016 tour, when he will be shooting from the lip at York Barbican on Saturday, February 20.

Jimeoin – pronounced Jim Owen – may be an Northern Irishman born in Leamington Spa but he has long lived in Australia, popping over to Britain for tours and appearances on Sunday Night At The Palladium and Live At The Apollo. He has performed on the Royal Variety Performance too.

Jimeoin's rambling yet piercing comedy taps into the absurdities of life and points up the ridiculous silliness of human behaviour, all seen through a surrealist lens.

Should you not be aware, the tour's gun-slinging publicity photograph is a riff on Andy Warhol's Pop Art portraits of Elvis Presley that he began in 1963. He created 22 in total with different numerations of Elvis and the series was first exhibited at the Ferus gallery in Los Angeles; nine are in museum collections, the rest in private hands.

Tickets for Jimeoin's Yeehah show in York are on sale at £19.50, concessions and students £17, on 0844 854 2757, at yorkbarbican.co.uk or in person form the Barbican box office.

Jimeoin, who will turn 50 on January 24, last played York Barbican on his Yes, Yes, Whatever....?! tour in February 2014 and previously brought his Lovely! tour to the Grand Opera House in May 2012.
