DAN Nightingale's Small World Tour parks up at the Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, York, on Monday night.

"Mixing fiendishly accurate observation with energetic characterisations and killer punch lines, his comedy is original, playful, intelligent, poignant and exciting," says Al Greaves, promoter of The Burning Duck Comedy Club. "Dan is sometimes ridiculous, but always hilarious and he's bringing his latest tour show to our club!"

Buoyant storyteller Nightingale began his comedy career in Newcastle in 2002, then moved to Manchester, where he spent ten years. He founded the Frog and Buckets "Beat the Frog" amateur night and has become a circuit headliner and in-demand master of ceremonies and MC and host, while also doing regular television warm-ups for Jonathan Ross, John Bishop and Celebrity Juice.

"He's a regular crowd pleaser who's performed solo shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008, 2012 and 2013 and received five-star reviews for his 2014 Fringe show, his hour-long, one-man tour de force, Dan Nightingale Is Trying His Best Not To Be A D**k," says Al. "So we're delighted that Dan has chosen to bring his show to our intimate venue."

Monday's support will be Burning Duck's semi-regular MC and rising star Amy Gledhill. "Amy is one of our favourite performers," says Al. "Last time she was here she re-enacted Adam and Eve's fall from the Garden of Eden with a volunteer from the audience and a stick of broccoli."

Greaves has sold over half the tickets for Monday's 8pm gig already. "But we have a handful left online at the bargain price of £4; otherwise it’s £5 on the door from 7.45pm, if there are any tickets left," he says.
