JOE Lycett opens the Saturday Night Lounge line-up at The Duchess, York, this weekend, fresh from his appearance on BBC1's Live At The Apollo.

"Behind him he has a Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe to add to his Best Newcomer award at the 2010 Chortle Awards, and it’s no secret that Joe is a hugely talented up-and-coming comedian with an unaffected, relaxed and effortless stage presence," says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

Headlining the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club bill will be Carl Hutchinson. Often seen on tour with comedy pal Chris Ramsey, Hutchinson has guested on Russell Howard’s Good News on BBC3 and is fast building up a following.

"He sold out his entire run at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe run, rare these days for a young comic, and returns this year with a brand new hour of stand-up," says Toby.

"His exasperation at the mundane aspects of everyday life is as funny as it is recognisable and he's sure to be a huge name of the future."

Chris Washington makes his Hyena Lounge debut this weekend. "He's quickly becoming one of the most sought-after new acts on the circuit, and with his cheeky Northern charm and humorous tales it’s clear to see why Chris is flying up the comedy ladder," says Toby.

Andre Vincent returns to his "favourite gig in the country" on Saturday night, flying in from the Altitude Festival on the ski slopes of Austria to host the 8pm show, mixing banter with almost 30 years' worth of material.

Tickets cost £14 on 01904 641413, at hyenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.
