SARA Pascoe will bring her first ever British tour show to the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club on January 20, when she presents Sara Pascoe Vs History at The Duchess in Stonebow, York.

"With a comedy brain that leaps from stimulating arguments on to abstract confabulation with lumpy doses of openness, honesty and earnestness, Sara shares her romantic history, existential theory and cultural insights in this show," says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

"The past contains wars, witches, Kim Jong-il and your ex," says Sara, who has appeared on such television shows as QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Mock The Week. "Your brain can recall being a child, while your body remembers being a monkey. Everything that has happened shapes who we are today."

This weekend, the Saturday Night Lounge bill at The Duchess will assemble John Lynn, Justin Moorhouse, Scott Bennett and Sally-Anne Hayward. Moorhouse will open the show fresh from taking part in the Christmas edition of BBC1's Live At The Apollo and just before he begins a 15-night arena run in the Phoenix Nights reunion for Comic Relief in Manchester.

Irishman John Lynn will headline Saturday's gig with his slow, laconic delivery. "He's now working on his debut live DVD for NBC Universal in America and is a familiar face to Irish audiences thanks to his extensive TV, film and live work over there," says Toby. "It’s only a case of time before he is a household name over here too."

Yorkshireman Scott Bennett will make his Hyena Lounge debut in this weekend’s middle slot, having finished as runner-up in the English Comedian Of The Year Award in 2014, while Sally-Anne Hayward will host the show. "With her warm sunny disposition cleverly masking a frighteningly fast wit and with a wonderful mix of stories and audience banter, there's no better compere in the country," reckons Toby.

Doors will open at 7pm for the 8pm start to each show. Tickets are on sale on 01904 641413 or at hyenalounge.com
