MATT Richardson tops the Saturday Night Lounge bill this weekend in York, joined at the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club at The Duchess by Greg Burns, James Meehan and Ray Peacock.

Headliner Richardson is the co-host of The Xtra Factor on ITV2 and has appeared on Sweat The Small Stuff, Celebrity Juice, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and Viral Tap.

“His 54-date Hometown Hero tour last year established him as a well respected stand-up comic and surprised many by the quality of his writing and mirth-making, putting him way ahead of his peers,” says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

Burns opens the 8pm show. “Like Matt Richardson, he has a parallel career, as a DJ on Capital FM in London hosting the drive-time show, while also being a multi award-winning stand-up, who performed his first ever stand-up, solo West End comedy show at the Bloomsbury Theatre in 2012,” says Toby.

James Meehan takes the middle slot. “He’s making big waves with his superbly crafted material, coupled with lightning-fast witty comments, and a huge future awaits this exciting new comic,” predicts Toby.

Ray Peacock returns to the Hyena Lounge as this weekend’s host . “He’ll be proving why he’s one of the most in-demand comperes and TV warm-up men in the country and he’s always highly entertaining,” says Toby.

On Monday, Andrew O’Neill, left, British comedy’s very own occultist and heavy-metal loving transvestite vegan, returns to the Hyena Lounge with his brand new show, The History Of Heavy Metal.

“Andrew knows more about heavy metal music than you’ve had hot dinners, so come and watch an extremely funny comedian talk about the thing he loves most,” says Toby. “He’ll explain how to head-bang, what happens in a mosh pit and the difference between blackened thrash and grindcore. Nominated for Best Show at the Leicester Comedy Festival, this show is probably not just for people who like heavy metal, but if you do, you’ll really like it.”

Doors open on both nights at The Duchess at 7pm. Tickets are on sale at hyenalounge.com and on 01904 641413.
