MICHAEL McIntyre's warm-up gig at the Grand Opera House, York, on Monday for his new stand-up show, Happy & Glorious, has sold out.

McIntyre's previous tour, Showtime, was the biggest-selling comedy tour in the world in 2012, playing to more than 640,000 people, including a ten-night residency at London’s O2 Arena that matched pop superstar Rihanna’s record-breaking run in 2011.

McIntyre has released three DVDs: 2008’s Live And Laughing, the biggest-selling British debut stand-up DVD of its time; 2009's Hello Wembley, still the fastest-selling UK stand-up DVD of all time; and 2012’s Showtime, which topped that year's Christmas chart.

Last year, McIntyre performed internationally; playing South Africa, Dubai, Norway, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore; his Johannesburg gig was the largest-ever comedy show in Africa and his Dubai shows won the Time Out Best Night Out Award.

After making his debut as a chat-show host on BBC1's he Michael McIntyre’s Chat Show, he now returns to the stage in Happy & Glorious mode. His support act at Monday's 8pm show will be Scarborough comedian Paul Tonkinson.
