AUSTRALIAN comedian Wayne Deakin will this weekend’s Saturday Night Lounge bill at The Duchess, Stonebow, York, where Rob Rouse, Phil Chapman and compere Jonathan Mayor will be cracking jokes too from 8pm to 10.30pm.

Deakin has performed at comedy clubs and festivals in Australia, the United States and Canada and now lives in London, where he works at The Comedy Store and Jongleurs, while his American shows have included headlining the New York Improv.

Rouse, presenter of the first series of Channel 4'sThe Friday Night Project, will open the show; Chapman will take the middle spot and Mayor will be the larger-than-life host.

"Watching a show hosted by Jonathan is like being hit by a truck full of laughter at 100mph with his boundless energy and lust for life," says Hyena Lounge Comedy Club promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

"It's impossible not to like him and he'll ensure there's no let-up in the funnies."
