CRACKING comedian George Egg tops the bill at the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club in York on Saturday night.
“George is a totally unique act on the comedy circuit, often regarded as the king of props-based comedy,” says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.
“He’s appeared on stages and TV all over the world including the London Palladium and Las Vegas, pulling out gag after gag from his massive briefcase of props.
“Always a popular act in York, he’s now working on a television concept of cooking three-course meals using the items found in hotel rooms. Totally original, totally bonkers and totally hilarious.”
Opening the 8pm show at The Duchess will be Gordon Southern, an international comic who spends six months of the year working in Britain and the other six in Australia. He is noted for his upbeat, energetic delivery, observational comedy and quicksilver improvisation and was a regular contributor alongside Peter Kay on BBC2’s The Sunday Show.
The middle slot goes to Johnny Pelham, finalist in the BBC New Comedian Of The Year competition and one of Toby’s tips for the future, while the compere will be Dave Twentyman, who last appeared at the Hyena Lounge as the headline act. Expect banter with the audience and observational anecdotes, mostly about his wife, Sue.
Tickets cost £14 on 0844 477 1000 or at hyenalounge.com
