JAMES Acaster returns to York on his new solo tour on Tuesday, and apparently James has something he’s been meaning to tell you. He’s been putting it off for some time. You might want to sit down for this.

James isn’t the stand-up comic you think he is. He’s going to reveal that he’s an undercover cop and always has been. He’s invested too much in his assumed identity of a comedian. It’s time to make things right, time for James to rabbit on whimsically, time for more of his awkward physicality.

James announced himself with his five-star debut show Amongst Other Things and has since received Edinburgh Comedy Award best show nominations for Prompt in 2012, Lawnmower in 2013 and Recognise this summer. He is now touring Recognise from September 21 to November 29, having won the Best International Show prize at the New Zealand Comedy Festival.

Off stage, he has his own BBC Radio 4 series, James Acaster’s Findings, and he co-hosts The Josh Widdicombe Show on XFM. On television, he has appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Russell Howard's Good News.

On Tuesday, doors open at 7pm; tickets are on sale on 0844 477 1000 or at hyenalounge.com
