THE Hyena Lounge Comedy Club is to present four shows in one week, a record number in quick succession in York for long-time Yorkshire comedy promoter Toby Clouston-Jones, who bolsters his regular Saturday Night Lounge night with three tour shows, all at The Duchess in Stonebow.

On Saturday, Justin Moorhouse will use the opening spot as a chance to perfect his set for his Live At The Apollo recording for BBC1 the following week. Fresh from his Coronation Street cameos as Flying Horse landlord Dean Upton, Mancunian Moorhouse is preparing for an extensive British tour throughout next year, once he has completed his Phoenix Nights reunion shows in January.

Dry-witted North Westerner Mike Newall will take this weekend’s middle slot, in the aftermath of supporting Sarah Millican on her "work in progress" dates, and Hyena Lounge legend Dan Nightingale will close the show. Ed Gamble has had to pull out of compere duties to fulfil a filming schedule that has over-run. "He now needs to be in London all day Saturday," says Toby. "We will, however, ensure that we find a replacement worthy of the job."

If you think you would enjoy a 43-year-old woman shouting about gender inequality, in a Gloucester accent, for nearly two hours, then Tuesday's double bill is definitely the show for you, reckons Toby.

Both shows, A Bic For Her and An Ungrateful Woman, are performed by Bridget Christie, who also has written and starred in her own BBC Radio 4 series Bridget Christie Minds The Gap.

"Bridget Christie does not wear her feminism lightly," says Toby. "She wears it heavily, like a suit of armour."

She must wear it well because A Bic For Her was a total sell-out at last year's Edinburgh Fringe and its nine-week run at the Soho Theatre made it the London venue’s top-selling comedy show ever. This year, An Ungrateful Woman matched Bridget's 2013 feats with five-star reviews for its sold-out Edinburgh run.

Andy Zaltzman, star of The Bugle podcast and BBC Radio 4’s Political Animal and Andy Zaltman's History Of The Third Millennium, will be a Satirist For Hire (CAPS CORRECT) on Wednesday night.

Zaltzman wrote and hosted BBC Radio 5Live’s Yes! It’sThe Ashes and has written for Channel 4’s Bremner Bird And Fortune. In tandem with John Oliver, he co-writes and hosts The Bugle, an ongoing series of satirical news podcasts, in association with The Times, and has written for and performed on Oliver's Comedy Central stand-up special Terrifying Times. He is also the author of Does Anything Eat Bankers?, a satirical take on the credit crunch.

Free-thinking philosopher Tom Stade will return to York next Friday, this time to ponder timeless questions and reflect on life’s choices and decisions in Decisions, Decisions.

All four shows will start at 8pm; tickets are available in advance on 01904 641413 or at hyenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.
