CANADIAN stand-up Craig Campbell brings his new tour show to the Hyena Lounge Comedy Club in the City Screen Basement bar in York on Bank Holiday Monday.

Campbell has supported Frankie Boyle on his past two national tours, performed on Dave’s One Night Stand, BBC3's Russell Howard’s Good News and BBC1's Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and played York Barbican last May with fellow Canadians Stewart Francis and Glenn Wool in their Edinburgh Fringe hit, Return Of The Lumberjacks.

"A formidable force and master storyteller, Craig never fails to impress with his high octane, charismatic performances and humorous anecdotes," says Hyena Lounge promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

Tickets for this 8pm show cost £14 on 0871 902 5726 or at hynenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.

Meanwhile, Steve Harris headlines the Saturday Night Lounge line-up at the Hyena Lounge's other home, The Duchess, this weekend. "Whatever age or walk of life you’re from, Steve has something for you. He's a master of the obvious and a Ninja of the not so obvious," says Toby. "You’ll be hit so hard by a punch line, you won’t know where it’s come from.

His prime asset is his ability to get any audience on his side with a well-crafted act and a will and confidence to survive outside of it, and there's always a level of warmth in his attacks even if they're pre-emptive."

Jonny Awsum opens the 8pm show with his trusty guitar and his musings on the white lies he tells his girlfriend, his new home town of Croydon and the memory of his first love at eight years old. He had a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe with his Jonny Awsum's To Do List show, has presented for Sky Sports and featured in Cravendale's Cats with Thumbs campaign, now viewed more than a million times on YouTube.

Kate Mulgrew takes the middle spot with bluntness, wide-eyed enthusiasm and sometimes cynical edge, as she prepares her new show for the Edinburgh summer, and Andrew Ryan, the sharp compere with the soft Irish accent, steers the night's course.

Tickets for each 8pm show cost £14 on 0871 902 5726 or at hynenalounge.com or on the door from 7pm.
