HYENA Lounge Comedy Club promoter and talent spotter Toby Clouston-Jones is predicting a rapid rise for his Saturday Night Lounge debutant in York, Peter Brush.

“I’m really excited about Peter; he’s easily head and shoulders above any of the next generation of Yorkshire comedians,” says Toby. “He could well be the next Tom Wrigglesworth.”

Brush will take the middle spot on Saturday’s 8pm bill in the Basement bar at City Screen, York. “Having won last year’s Comedian Of The Year award at the Harrogate Comedy Festival, he’s probably the most exciting act in Yorkshire at the moment,” says Toby.

“Already being targeted by the big London management companies, Peter’s star is certainly in the ascendance as his enigmatic, off-the-wall humour, very much in the style of Woody Allen, reduces audiences to fits of laughter. Given that he’s a much-in-demand writer for TV and radio, I have a hunch that Peter Brush could well become a huge name in comedy.”

Saturday’s line-up will be headlined by Nige, the cheeky Scouser character creation of Keith Carter, who waxes lyrical on various subjects with his unique outlook on life. Off-the-cuff observer Dan Nightingale will be the opening act and York resident Danny Deegan hosts the show.

Tickets are available online at hyenalounge.com and on the door from 7.15pm.
