YORK comedy club Knock Knock Comedy Presents stages a night of March Madness at the Post Office Club, Marygate, on March 7.
The 7.30pm show will be headlined by The Brethren Of Levity, alias Jonny F Monotone and Sir Dickie Benson, “two men at the opposite ends of the comedy spectrum” who performed together at last summer’s Edinburgh Fringe.
Opening the show will be the world’s only bomb disposal comedian, Steve Rimmer, who is indeed a bomb disposal engineer by day, comedian by night. Having appeared on Calendar on ITV a few weeks ago, Rimmer makes his return to York, where he performed at Stand Up For Heroes.
York’s rising star, Manraj Bahra, and the “ridiculously talented” Eddie French round out the show, hosted by Knock Knock Comedy favourite Peter Marshall.
“Knock Knock Comedy Presents is trying to bring comedy to York at an affordable price,” says promoter Steve Shooter. “We aim to always bring the best rising stars of the comedy world to York, along with experienced acts, and the shows are held on the first Thursday of every month.”
• Coming next will be Sara Pascoe on April 4, followed by Andrew Ryan on May 2. Minimum age of admission is 18; tickets cost £5, students £4.
