He is hampered by his force being depleted by a flu epidemic, but he uses unorthodox tactics to get at the truth behind one murder after another.

Are they linked? Can they be placed at the door of a recluse living in the woods on the Wingate Estate. Is his past linked to the present crimes. Mike is suspicious, and in following clues and his intuition he uncovers the truth which unexpectedly involves prominent local figures. A pleasant relaxing read
